WWI US Army M1917 Helmet painted with an interesting geometric pattern with a sunburst of triangles on the right side, with the 79th Div insignia over the “79” slightly off center, followed by a white strip of symbols only best described as runic and punctuated by a perched owl on the back. On the left side are battle and sector names, “Argonne, Troyon, Verdun, East of Meuse Ht.” All of the paint has darkened with age which really adds to the attractiveness of the artwork. It is lacking the chinstrap and liner but has an old added wire so to be displayed on a wall.
