This is the uniform, trousers, & helmet grouping of 1st Lieutenant Amory Atwater Miller, Company A, 168th Infantry, 42nd Division. Miller was a student in the ROTC program at Fort Sheridan, being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and assigned to Company A, 168th Infantry Regiment, 42nd Rainbow Division. Miller went overseas with the regiment on September 17th, 1917. He served as an officer of Company A throughout the war, fighting in each of the major battles the 42nd Division took part in.
The uniform is dated October 26th, 1918, and is a beautiful French made example with French made buttons. Miller's name is written on the interior. The uniform is much darker than other examples we've seen. The helmet is an M1917 with a great sand texture finish with a depot replaced chinstrap. The pants are also beautiful French-made with Paris buttons but have scattered mothing. Miller is also named in the trousers.
This is a phenomenal uniform & helmet grouping named to a Lieutenant of one of the most battle-torn regiments of the AEF.
