Drinkwater, who went overseas with the 1st as a lieutenant in August 1917 and returned as a captain and the commander of Co D, 1st Eng Reg in October 1919, earning him four overseas chevrons.
The uniform has US & Engineer Company D collar insignia, a 1st Division patch, and 4 overseas chevrons on the left sleeve. There is no tag remaining on the uniform which may have had a name. The uniform has moderate damage to the liner but the exterior is still in good shape.
