WWII German patriotic pillow measuring approximately 18”x14” with a screen printing of the German cruiser Emden. During World War II, the German cruiser Emden served primarily in a training and patrol role. Launched in 1925, Emden was one of the Reichsmarine's light cruisers that was later incorporated into the Kriegsmarine at the outset of the war. While it saw limited combat, Emden was notably active in laying mines and patrolling the Baltic Sea to secure German naval training areas. The cruiser also played a part in Operation Weserübung, the invasion of Norway in April 1940, by transporting troops. For much of the war, Emden served as a training ship for naval cadets, helping to prepare them for service. Overall in good condition with some light sun bleaching to the reverse.
