This hat is dark blue piped in silver with two major general stars on the left front of the cap. Inside is named to Shuler twice and also features the manufacturer "Flight Ace"'s logo and information. Accompanying the cap is a letter dated 1989 to a previous owner written and signed by Shuler saying that he was providing his overseas hat that he wore as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at Headquarters Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon further research, he was stationed there from 1976-1979, dating this cap.

Lt. Gen Shuler was a command pilot with more than 7,500 flying hours, including 209 combat hours accrued during Vietnam with some achieved in Korea during the USS Pueblo crisis.
