Vietnam War era United Stated Air Force blue party suit named to Lieutenant General Walter T. Galligan. General Galligan was a West Point graduate of 1945 obtaining his qualifications for B-17 and B-25 aircraft the following year. Galligan participated in the Berlin Airlift following WWII piloting a C-47 aircraft between Wiesbaden Air Base, Germany, and Tempelhof Airport, Berlin. In 1953 Galligan was retrained in B-29 aircraft and later piloted both B-29 and B-47 aircraft with the 40th Bombardment Wing. Most notable of his career In 1969 Galligan was deployed to the Republic of Vietnam as commander of the 35th Tactical Fighter Wing at Phan Rang Air Base and later in 1970 he was assigned to Tan Son Nhut Air Base as director of Tactical Air Control Center. Galligan was promoted to lieutenant General in 1974 as commander of U.S. Forces, Japan, and Fifth Air Force.
The party suit itself is in moderate condition and does have notable staining present to the lover extremities, groin and right arm. The party suit does have Galligan’s name custom embroidered in the inside of the zipper tail.
