Rare WWI U.S. Army Fur Winter Cap, as used in the Russian Expedition in both Vladivostok and Archangel. Many of these caps were sourced from existing stockpiles dating back to the Indian Wars, while others were contracted by the Army or acquired from the civilian market. This cap retains its original manufacturer’s tag dated September 4, 191, made by H. Jaeckel & Sons, a verified supplier to the Russian Expedition, with the contract year most likely being 1918. There is some fraying on the fabric, which is common, and minor loss to the fur.
