Original WW1 Marine Corps Officer's Overcoat belonging to 2nd Lieutenant Frank W. Heinrichs who served during the First World War at the Marine Barracks in Quantico, Virginia. Heinrichs was born Oct 8, 1895 in Pittsburg, PA then later moving to Marietta, Ohio. His family likely emigrated to the United States from Germany or a German speaking nation late in the 1800’s and probably fell victim to the anti-German sentiment during the time. Even though his personal story is lost to time, the uniform is historical on its own being one of the few surviving examples of any US Marine officer uniforms. With little to no mothing on this overcoat, this is an extremely desirable and rarely seen variation of an already rare uniform. The knotting on the sleeves are extravagant and adds so much character to the coat. It is named very clearly in the interior pocket on the label.
