WWI French Army horizon blue patch that is for the Chasseur Alpins or “Alpine Hunter” battalion. The Chasseur Alpins were initialized 1888 to help address the potential threat on the Alpine border following the Unification of Italy. During WWI the Chasseur Alpins were comprised of troops specialized in mountain warfare. The patch itself is in rough condition with notable heavy moth damage present in the backing.
