Civil War period photograph of Union solider Jeremiah Yaple of Company A, 178th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. The 178th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment was composed of drafted militia and as part of Company A Yaple would have likely originated from Columbia County, PA. Yaple while serving in this capacity would have most notably participated in the Skirmish at Chickahominy. Yaple unfortunately died of smallpox on December 30th, 1862. The framed portrait is 17” x 15” and is in great condition with the picture and matting itself in good condition with some notable discoloration and wear present and the two layer gilded frame is in beautiful still presentational condition.
