Pre Civil War circa 1830s eagle head sword featuring a silver-plated blade with gilded etching. The eagle head sword was a pre-civil war style sword with marginal variation in design but was specifically famous for the iconic eagle head shaped pommel. This style eagle head sword was likely of complete French manufacture less the blade that was commonly imported from Solingen, Prussia. The sword itself is missing its scabbard and is in worn condition with a loose hand guard with considerable play and a broken grip presumably made of bone. Also the blade does have several heavy nicks present along its edge as well as rust, loss of plating and loss of gilding.
