This jacket belonged to General Robert H. Barrow, a three war veteran who served as Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1979-1983. He became a drill instructor right after graduating boot camp and later served in China in WWII. He also participated in the Korean war, in which he received the Navy Cross. He commanded the 9th Regiment, 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam, receiving the Distinguished Service Cross there. He retired in 1983 and passed away in 2008.

The jacket is in good condition with beautiful Eagle, Globe & Anchors on the collar, four general stars on each epaulette and a Joint Chiefs of Staff badge. The ribbon bar is incomplete, with some of the higher awards and a foreign award missing so the ribbon rack may have been replaced. The jacket comes with a letter from "The Marine Shop" dated 1991 to the former owner in which the sender described prices for a belt to go with the uniform. The letter states that General Barrow had contacted The Marine Shop about giving the uniform to the former owner.
