WWII US Navy Officer’s Private Purchase Sun Helmet in the same design as mining helmets of the time but painted for Capt Louis Augustine who started WWII as a Lt. Commander but not much else can be found post 1941. Overall, the hat is in fantastic condition with great period paint. There is some paint loss and rings going around the crown from another helmet sitting on top.
