The plate is attributed to Lieutenant General William H. H. Morris, Jr. by a collector’s sticker on the top right corner on the back of the plate. Plate would have been mounted on the front of jeep or other vehicle that the officer was traveling in. Each star is bolted on. The plate shows considerable wear with some paint loss on plate and tarnishing on the star. Morris was promoted to MG on Jan 24, 1948 while serving as the Senior American Member, Joint Brazil-US Military Committee, a position he held from June 2, 1947 - Sep 30, 1949.

During 1945 to 1948, Lt Gen William H. H. Morris, Jr. served on the War Department Personnel Board in Washington, D.C. In 1949, he was appointed as the commanding general of the U.S. Caribbean Command, making him a lieutenant general. He continued in this role until his retirement from the army in 1952.
