Post-Civil War US Ames Navy Type II Sword Bayonet for the M1870 Rollingblock which features a one piece brass hilt inspector marked GGS and with crossed cannons over an anchor on both sides. The blade is a 20” double-edged straight blade made by Ames Mfg Co, Chicopee as so stamped on one side of the ricasso and is inspector stamped again on the other side with USN above and 1870 below. Matching the bayonet is the original leather scabbard in good sound condition but is missing the frog stud.
