GWOT OIF Iraqi Army M80 Helmet with Capture Notes with hand written notes on one side reading, “Captured by 1LT R. Barbato / Task Force Falcon / 13 March, 2003 / Battle of the Bridges / As Samawah / (Signature) / Airborne!” While the other side is printed and reads, “IRAQI REPUBLICAN GUARD HELMET TAKEN FROM REPUBLICAN GUARD HEADQUARTERS DURING THE BATTLE FOR AS SAMAWAH, MARCH 2003 BY 1LT R.BARBATO, 3RD BN, 325TH AIRBORNE INFANTRY, 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION.” Overall, the helmet is in good shape with some paint loss. The liner is a period replacement European liner, a first I’ve seen but undoubtedly original.
