WWI German Gewehr 98 “butchers blade” bayonet and scabbard made by Fichel & Sachs of Solingen Germany in 1917. The knife features the iconic butchers blade shape including the single reverse quillion. The blade and scabbard are in moderate to good condition with rust present on the quillion, grip, scabbard and pommel however the blade has only light patina and discoloration and the grip and the scabbard action have no play or jiggle. The spine of the blade is imperial stamped and the maker mark on the ricasso has nearly worn away therefore research and comparison was needed to determine the maker of the blade.
