Original WWI US M1907 Winter Hat updated in 1918 with the addition of a blackened metal buckle instead of drawstrings. The hat is commonly misidentified as a WWII hat but stamped on the buckle the patent date of 5-7-18. Beautifully drawn on the interior is the owners name of “W.W. Walton.” After pouring through the transport lists, there are several possibilities but no single candidate stands out as being the original owner. Condition: II
